Each year, the US Department of State Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery Program makes 50,000 immigrant visas
(also known as Green Card) available through a lottery.
The eligible countries are ones that have low rates of immigration to the United States.

If you receive a visa through the Diversity Visa Program 2014:
- You will be authorized to live and work permanently in the United States.
- You will be allowed to bring your spouse.
- You can bring with you any unmarried children under the age of 21 to the United States.
A Green Card is a legal document which provides you with US permanent residence status.
You will be entitled to all the benefits a US citizen has such as:
working, owning property, studying and living in the USA.
Changes in the Green Card Lottery process:
"Applications for the Diversity Visa Program must be submitted in an electronic format, using an Internet website dedicated specifically to the submission and receipt of Diversity Visa."
